Mereology and Location

This week we’ll apply what we’ve learned, by looking at a challenge facing every logic of location (except the plural view).  We’ll look at a range of responses to the problem, and evaluate what sort of mereology and metaphysics each response leaves us with. We'll also examine harmony principles, which are rules connecting logics of location and logics of parthood. We'll focus on arguments that shape is extrinsic, where the extrinsicality of shape is used to explain the necessary connection between the shape of an object and the shape of its exact location.
